Vintage Japanese Americana

It's nostalgic. It's cozy. It's charming. It's 10 feet Single. Situated nondescriptly on a quiet tree lined block on N6 in Billyburg is 10ft Single -- a Japanese-run clothing store that specializes in second-hand vintage Americana. Whew. That was a mouthful (that's what she said). lol

Anyho, the store features a wide array of vintage apparel -- from fashion accessories, to bags, to footwear, tanks, shirts, jumpers, jeans, coats, and jackets of the Good Ol' US of A. Strangely, I feel like saying "Yee-haw." Oh wait, I just said it. Well it's out there now. My cheesiness.

And speaking of cheese, the store does not smell dank and/or rank at all. So come on down to 10ft Single. When the old meets the young, and the Old West is run by the Far East. haha. I hope that wasn't too racially inappropriate. But then again, you can shove that PC dictionary up your uptight ass! Tee hee.

P.S. And did I mention that the store was run by Japanese hipsters? Just checking. Oh and by the by, clothes with character and history + cheap = WIN!

Fashion Inspiration of Technology

I know right? I should have graduated from this school. A lot of people have actually mistaken me for a design student or an art student. I personally take it as a compliment. Pathetic really, that's what it is -- getting every little ounce of validation, reminder, and/or acceptance to my true calling. But am I bitter? ... Abso-fucking-lutely. HAHA

No but really, it's no biggie. I still get to live out some part of my dream and for that, I am deeply grateful and happy. I get to live in NYC, get somewhat close to that beacon of light that happens twice every year called Fashion Week, and be surrounded by the "Beautiful People," as Simon Doonan would call them.

These pictures were actually taken by my friend, Chevy. The materialized vision of FIT's design students and their own take on corporate institutions like Swarovski, Bloomingdale's, Tropicana, Six Flags, Yellow Tail, NatGeo, Nabisco, Polaroid, Mapquest, I Love NY, Sephora, Kodak, Bycicle playing cards, and oddly enough... Anna Sui. I know right? Go figure.

This is what earth's oceans would look like against your vaj and ass.

Head-spinning.

OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!!!

Goldfish poop.

The bag lady.

Six flags none the richer.

We all fall down with the House of Cards and the Queen of Hearts.

P.S. How did Anna Sui become the odd duck out, I ask? If memory serves me right, she's still fashion design label out of all the names that I just said/dropped. Innit?

I'm Having a Moment

Christian, Christian, Christian. Oh where do I even begin with this little pixie-sized wunderkind. CUNT! I just love that tranny hot bitch. Too good for TV really. Genius in everything he creates and never ceases to amuse me. His quips and witty comments are just too precious. Anyho, tune in for a replay of his Bravo TV Special, Christian Siriano: Having a Moment. Check your listings. Or download it online. Whatever. Personally, I am pretty inept with the machinations of the interwebs.

P.S. The prints from his Spring collection is just genius. Aerial pictures of the coast of Italy? Whaat!? Oh, and Sessilee Lopez? Gorge!

Happy Easter Everyone!

To commemorate Jesus' resurrection AKA Zombie Jesus, we released rare egg-laying bunnies all over people's lawns and yards and then steal their young (the eggs). And apparently their offsprings' food of choice right after they hatch are chocolates. YAAY!! So we snatched them too.

Mmmm.... Easter bunny chocolates. However, as a person who offered my heart to fashion and sold my soul to Lagerfeld, I am not allowed to enjoy any gustatory pleasures with calories. Air, dust, and water however are fine.

So instead, I celebrate Easter by fawning over the Miss Fortuna headband by Benoit Missolin.

This bunny ears headband are made out of black glass-pearls. Adorable and chic at the same time. And for $357.72 at eshop.benoitmissolin.com, why the HELL not, right? :)

P.S. What's with the people's fascination with bunnies these days (Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs, Topshop, etc.). I mean, they are very cute little critters. And I love them as pets or on my head. Sorry PETA.

Happy Birthday Topshop!

OMGEEZ! You a year old girl. My friends and I were just randomly strolling along SoHo Friday evening on our way to dimsum, and lo and behold, as we passed by Topshop there was a line for a special occasion. Feeling intimidated with all the stilettoes and chunky wedges stomping in the store, my first instinct is to cower in fear. Yes, the clackers do intimidate me so.

But as we were awkwardly hovering outside, somebody approached me and wanted to take my picture, and for some odd reason my inner attention whore took ovah!! We was in there and we be dancin' and we be boppin' and we be shoppin'. I personally didn't get anything (coz the bitch broke). But my friend bought a lil somethin'. I just took his free canvas shopping bag. I wanted the slutty tank that went with the free swag but he wasn't giving it up! BETCH!

Apparently these menz asked Chevy to take a picture of them. Thanks you guys!

Dranks!!!

If only boys come like these too. :(

Mister Tumnus!! He's so hot, even as a faun.

WHAT-EVAH. HE a slutbag too anyways. HAHA. Just kidding. Love you Deej.

P.S. And you still have my belt! Give it back. Pretty please with popped cherries on top? Oh, and these are my friend Chevy's photos of the event. This blog is a partnership now. ;)

Inspiration = Realization

I have always wanted a bowl cut. Always have. And I attempted the infamous hard cut about a year ago amidst much skepticism from friends and family. Even the boyfriend hated the idea at first. But I was headstrong and dove into the deep end. I personally thought that it was a great cut. Not only was it easy to style and manage everyday, it was also a statement to my personal style.

Alas, I gave it up for a more accessible and approachable do for the Fall of 09 (I was going on job interviews for nursing, so my mom suggested that I had to keep my aesthetics low key and non-threatening). Then Givenchy released this ad...

Amazing right?

Yeah. Big mistake on my part for not believing in my gut instincts enough. Big boo to that. Anywhore, now that the weather is getting warmer in NYC, and the fact that I just need something to set me apart and make me feel a tad bit special, I got myself a serious bowl cut. And to hell with everybody else! Coz if you don't love yourself, how the hell are you gonna love somebody else!? Can I get an amen up in here?

P.S. BT Dubbs, that was from Ru Paul's Drag Race. It's the gay-er version of America's Next Top Model aka much more fun to watch. Who needs Tyra Mail, when I could get some She-Mail every week?

Summer Wishlist

DO WANT!!! And by God, I will do everything in my power to get me a pair of these men's gladiator sandals by Givenchy. And if anybody wants to know my availability, I will be standing on the corner of 42nd Street and 10th... Maybe 9th. 8th? Wherever the business takes me.

Anywho, I know that I could not possibly afford this pair of sandals. But a little boy can dream. This is actually just an inspiration piece for me. I want something with a similar aesthetic and effect that would be much... cheaper. Much much cheaper. And I will scour every fashion retailer, be it online or on the street, to grab me a pair of these.

P.S. I have no problem with wearing women's shoes/sandals by the by. It's just that they tend to be too feminine for my taste. I want something more powerful and extreme (like the ones above). Something that would make me appear like a gay fashionista and not just some cheap old queen thinking to himself that he's hot stuff because of them shoes. Maybe I'll even DIY it? Oh, and is it redundant for me to juxtapose the words men's and gladiator sandals? Thoughts?
